How to make your perfume last longer.
There is no trick that turns every fragrance into an all-day powerhouse. But better application and storage can help you get a more consistent experience from the perfume you already own.
Moisturise first
Very dry skin can make a fragrance feel less persistent. An unscented moisturiser can give the fragrance a less dry surface to sit on.
Use sensible application areas
Neck, wrists and inner elbows are common application points. More sprays are not automatically better, especially in enclosed spaces.
Do not obsess over rubbing wrists
Rubbing is unlikely to magically destroy a perfume, but it is unnecessary and can change how quickly the wet top layer evaporates. Spray and let it dry naturally.
Skin vs clothing
Fabric can hold fragrance differently from skin, but some perfumes may stain or affect delicate materials. Test carefully and avoid silk or other sensitive fabrics unless you know it is safe.
Store it away from heat and light
Keep bottles tightly closed and away from direct sunlight, hot cars and repeated temperature swings. A cool, stable cupboard is usually better than a sunny bathroom shelf.
If you stop noticing your fragrance after wearing it for a while, that does not necessarily mean everyone else has stopped smelling it. Your sense of smell can adapt to repeated exposure.
