Myth → fact → why

Perfume myths — what is actually useful?

Perfume advice gets repeated so often that opinion can start sounding like science. Here are the claims worth treating with more care.

MYTH

EDP always lasts longer than EDT

FACT: Not always.

Concentration can influence wear time, but formula, materials and the exact EDT/EDP composition also matter. Different concentrations can even use different notes.

MYTH

If I cannot smell it, the perfume is gone

FACT: Not necessarily.

Repeated exposure can reduce perceived intensity through olfactory adaptation. Other people may still notice the scent.

MYTH

Rubbing wrists makes perfume last longer

FACT: No.

Rubbing is unnecessary. Letting fragrance dry naturally is simpler and avoids changing the wet evaporation phase.

MYTH

More sprays always means better performance

FACT: No.

More fragrance can increase intensity, but it can also become uncomfortable or inappropriate in shared spaces.

MYTH

Expensive automatically means stronger

FACT: No.

Price reflects many things beyond performance, including brand, materials, packaging and positioning.

MYTH

Every packaging difference means fake

FACT: No.

Batches, markets and manufacturer packaging updates can create legitimate differences. Authenticity should be assessed using multiple signals, not one detail.
